About UGC-MMTTC

The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (formerly known as UGC-Human Resource Development Centre/UGC-Academic Staff College), Panjab University, was one of the first centre to be established in the country in October, 1987 immediately after the NEP highlighted the need to have such centres.

UGC-MMTTC, Panjab University has in the last three decades carved out a niche for itself not only in the University academic/administration setup but also in the Northern region and in the country. It is now seen by peers as an indispensable institution which nurtures the teaching prowess of young faculty and provides sharpened skills and an empowered attitude to tackle the professional challenges. UGC-MMTTC, Panjab University prouds itself not for the grand infrastructure not for the quantity of training programmes it churns out but more so for the spirit of serious pedagogy. It has been successful in inculcating in its trainees that teaching profession is one of the most challenging and difficult of the pursuits, yet through a will to learn the ropes, by mastering the skills of good pedagogy and by maintaining a positive and balanced motivation a newly inculcated teacher can turn into a great resource for the institution, for the society and for the nation. This is what the UGC-MMTTC, Panjab University believes in and this is what we practice in our programmes. That we have crossed the number of 15,000 teachers who have got trained from our centre, a substantial number of teachers attending our programmes from all over the country and their continued trust in us points to the success of our UGC-MMTTC.
