Equivalence of interdisciplinary Refresher Courses with Refresher Course in Subject/Discipline 

Every Interdisciplinary Courses is equivalent to Refresher course in the subject/discipline of the participant. (UGC Guidelines 2007-12, Para IV Curriculum, sub-para 4.2 Components of the Orientation Programmes, Page 15).

  • The modalities of the Summer School/Winter School will be the same as prescribed for Orientation Course/Refresher Course under the Human Resource Development Centre guidelines as per UGC direction from time to time. However, the certificate issued for participation shall be issued by the respective HRDC and will be considered equivalent to 1 OP/RC for Career Advancement purposes.

  • It has been decided that as a special case registration fees is not to be charged from the participants of the Summer/Winter Schools. It has been waived off.

  • Participants are to be paid TA/DA as per UGC guidelines.

  • At the time of joining, the participant is required to submit the following certificates from the competent authority:

    • Relieving letter and duty leave orders and identity card (Relieving from the duties for the duration of the course)

    • Certificate stating that the lecturer has not attended any Orientation/ Refresher Course during the last one year.                                    OR

    Has attended an Orientation and/or Refresher Course during the last one year from ____________to___________(mention dates).  However, the senior scale/selection grade already stands due from__________(mention dates).

    • A draft of Rs. 1000/- (Non-Refundable Registration Fee) in the name of "Honorary Director, HRDC, Panjab University, Chandigarh".

  • Draft has to be sent only after selection in the Course. Please do not send the Draft in advance.

  • In case confirmation of atleast 30 applicants is not received by the due date the course might be cancelled/postponed (No TA/DA will be paid).  Before leaving the station kindly confirm the dates of the course on HRDC office.

  • There is no provision for payment of TA/DA for participants of Short-Term Courses.

  • AC-III railway fare/AC/Deluxe Bus fare is permissible.  In all cases, production of rail/bus tickets is a must for reimbursement of due expenses incurred.

  • The teachers of colleges that do not yet come within the purview of Section 12 (b), but have been affiliated to a university for at least two years, will be permitted to participate in the programmes/courses. However, they won't be paid TA/DA and other allowances for attending these courses.

  • The course will run regularly from 9.30 to 4.30 p.m. on all working days (Monday to Saturday). There is no provision of any leave during the course.

  • The HRDC has a hostel for stay of participants.

    • Lodging arrangements for the outstation participants will be made strictly on first-come first-served basis.  In case the HRDC hostel is already fully booked they may have to make their own lodging arrangements. 

    • Lodging arrangements are only for participants.

    • The hostel facilities are basic, No catering service is provided by HRDC.

    • Only mattresses, pillows, bed-sheets and one blanket will be provided by HRDC.

    • Weather in Chandigarh during November-March is cold.

    • Hostel residents should bring their own lock & key.

  • All residents are required to maintain standards of behavior expected from educated persons.

  • The rooms, corridors and surrounding should be kept clean and hygienic.

  • Residents are expected to be in the hostel by 10 P.M. If any resident wishes to be away from the hostel during the weekend he/she must inform the HRDC.

  • The residents of a room are responsible for any damage to the property in the room.

  • Smoking and consumption of alcoholic drinks and/or narcotic drugs in the hostel premises is strictly prohibited. PU Campus is a smoke free campus and Chandigarh is a smoke free city.

  • Kindly switch off the fans/lights/AC/Geysers and also close the taps when not in use.

  • Keep your valuables locked and secured all the time. Do not hand over the keys of your room to any HRDC staff or other persons.

  • Any suggestion/recommendation/feedback/complaint or grievance can be conveyed to the HRDC office during office hours.
